 | | How Can I Protect My Docks?
- Have your dock seals inspected by a certified Rite-Hite Representative who has been trained to identify signs of burn damage due to the heat of trailer marker lights.
- Do not mistake small burn holes on your dock seal head pads for ordinary wear and tear.
- If signs of burn damage are detected on dock seal head pads, head curtains or side pads, replace them with fire-resistant dock seal components.
- Do not rely on ordinary fire-retardant materials, as they cannot prevent fires from starting.
- Do not rely on "lights off" or "no-idle" policies as protection. Although the burning danger is eliminated if trailer lights are turned off immediately upon backing into the dock seal, these policies have proven to be ineffective.

- Do not believe "it can't happen here." Even facilities with dedicated shipping fleets have reported incidents of burned dock seals from incoming trailers that have parked for as little as 20 minutes with their lights on.
- The Insulator™ Dock Sealing System from Frommelt is equipped with exclusive Firefighter® heat dissipation technology which prevents burning from the heat of trailer marker lights.
- Firefighter technology includes three layers of heat-dissipating foil sandwiched between two fabric layers, surrounding fire retardant foam. It is the only heat dissipating solution available.
